SOAR - 12 week duration

SOAR (Social Opportunities and Reintegration)

The focus of this stage is to consolidate the insight, understanding, skills and strengths gained throughout the recovery process. Whilst it is natural for those with newly formed wings to want to test them through independent flight, it is imperative that we skill clients in the use of their recovery toolkit to strengthen confidence and test their competence and capability in new, challenging situations involving further choice and change.

SPAN - 20 week duration

SPAN (Self Perception and Nurturing)

Clients in this stage are encouraged to reconnect with what is really important to them and to live according to their own personal values by identifying how these have become violated by their eating disorder and the behaviours it dictates. It is important that we provide support (physical, emotional and social) within the change environment therefore clients will continue with one on one change sessions with an experiential counsellor along with regular therapeutic sessions to explore and identify what helps and hinders throughout the change process. It is essential to ensure that there is sufficient structure to support a client undergoing change whilst providing them with the opportunity to independently challenge thoughts and behaviours.

REACH - 16 week duration

REACH (Real Evidence and Change)

Clients in this stage are supported to change behaviours in order to gain evidence against the fears/phobias that drive their eating disorder. Sessions involve one on one counselling with a counsellor, dietitian and extended sessions with an experiential counsellor. Families are encouraged to participate in the gathering of evidence and supporting the process of change. This stage is vital in preparing a client for change in a less structured and supervised environment.

SEARCH - 12 week duration

SEARCH (Supported Experiences and Real-world Challenges)

Clients in this stage are supported to experience areas where their fears prevent them from gaining experience in their life outside treatment. All experiential sessions involve one on one support over 4 hours, with an experienced carer/counsellor. Clients and their families collaborate closely with their treatment team to determine which thoughts and behaviours they most need to challenge. Clients also have weekly counselling and participate in a number of structured groups appropriate to their stage of illness and readiness to recover.
