Effects of ED's

• Up to 20% of people with Anorexia may die
• Anorexia Nervosa has the highest mortality and suicide rate of any psychiatric disorder. The risk of death is three times higher than depression, schizophrenia or alcoholism and twelve times higher than the general population.
• For women aged 15-24, eating disorders are among the top four leading causes of disease burden in terms of years of life lost through death and disability. Quality of life is severely impaired in all eating disorders
• The physical symptoms of eating disorders include heart, circulatory and kidney problems, osteoporosis, stomach and gut disturbance, abnormalities of fluid and blood salt balance, problems with menstruation and fertility, and dental and skin problems.
