The Bronte Centre

Seeking treatment ?

Jan Clarke-Cullis, is one of Australia's best known treatment professionals and advocates in the field of eating disorders. Having successfully treated hundreds of individuals and provided education and support for their families, Jan is best known as Bronte's mum and the founder of the Bronte Foundation. Jan knows what it is like to watch helplessly as a loved one endures the torment of an eating disorder and understands the devastating impact this has on those who love and care for them.

This first-hand knowledge and experience has allowed Jan to develop, as CEO of the Bronte Foundation, a world-class model for treatment where individual needs and family circumstances are factored into treatment design. "We know that no 'one size all' approach works for each individual therefore treatment should look and feel different for each person and family" says Jan.

Her work involves getting to know the individual and family, educating all stakeholders about the nature of the illness and helping them gain the skills required to be equal partners in recovery. Jan teaches families a language to use with their loved ones that allows them to break through the spin of the eating disorder to reach to sufferer trapped within.

Taking the time needed to get treatment right, working alongside individuals, families and associated professionals, ensures that the person on the inside of the eating disorder experience has the best possible chance of recovery.
